Facelift-free Meg Whitman vs. plastic surgeons

This post about Meg Whitman is the second of two pieces about what cosmetic doctors see in the faces of California’s two main candidates for governor. The previous post, about Jerry Brown, is “How cosmetic doctors would redo Jerry Brown’s face.” Previous posts focused on U.S. Senate candidates Barbara Boxer and Carly Fiorina.

ADVICE AND DISSENT
Nobody thinks Meg Whitman is a fan of plastic surgery, but a number of cosmetic doctors think she should be.

Five plastic surgeons contacted by this blog said that the 54-year-old Republican candidate for governor of California would benefit from a facelift.
Plastic surgeon Dr. Edward Domanskis of Newport Beach said she is “an excellent candidate for a facelift” as well as for surgery to remove excess skin from her eyelids, an endoscopic forehead lift, liposuction on her face and neck, and laser skin treatments.
According to dermatologic surgeon Dr. David Sire of Fullerton, she would benefit from a facelift, laser resurfacing, Botox around her eyes, and fillers between her nose and mouth.
Plastic surgeon Dr. Richard Fleming of Beverly Hills recommended that she have a brow lift, plus surgery to remove excess skin in her lower eyelids. He said she would benefit from a full facelift and liposuction of the neck and jawline. He said:
“She has low brow position with a high hairline, and therefore, I would suggest a hairline brow lift. With this technique, incision is made within the hair at the hairline and the hairline could then be repositioned in a more advantageous location to enhance or to improve normal facial proportions. Hair would grow through and in front of that incision, so the patient has total freedom of hairstyling. “

Dermatologist Dr. Vince Afsahi of Tustin and Newport Beach would recommend minimally invasive procedures that Whitman could undertake even in the midst of campaigning, because they have “little or no downtime.” He said:
“Ms. Whitman has prominent creases in the forehead, frown, and crow’s feet areas. A simple way to address this is to soften those areas with Botox Cosmetic.
“She also has very prominent laugh lines or nasal labial folds. Juvederm or Radiesse would be the filler of choice in this area. Both Botox and fillers are very feasible because downtime is minimal and if there is any bruising, it can usually be covered by makeup.
“Next we can focus on the fine lines and skin laxity, for which I would consider fractional [laser] devices such as the eMatrix. With the eMatrix we usually have a few days of mild redness and small crusts, but the downtime is minimal. The eMatrix preferentially heats the dermis to stimulate collagen contraction and new collagen formation.
“Neck laxity can be addressed with other bipolar radiofrequency devices such as Refirme , which can help tighten and firm the skin without surgery.”
“She would stand to benefit by a facelift with eyelid surgery/forehead lift as well as facial re-surfacing,” said plastic surgeon Dr. John Di Saia of San Clemente and Anaheim. “The last nine years have been hard on her appearance, which is typical of highly stressed individuals.”
There’s no evidence that Whitman would welcome any of this advice.
Plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Persky of Encino said, “Meg Whitman appears to be aging naturally without the benefit of any anti-aging treatments” – and he expects that will continue.
“Methinks Meg prefers to be governor without spending any of her $1.3 billion net worth on plastic surgery,” he said.
